Description Federico Zenith 2010-08-05 14:43:37 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

Many times I have to use KCharSelect to fish some obscure Unicode character. Usually when I start KCharSelect I know something of the character, like that its description contains the word "arrow".

Currently, after starting KCharSelect, I have to press Shift+Tab several times (five) to activate the text field.

Since it is really the most common way to look for a character, I would suggest activating the text field immediately upon start up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Alt+F2, "kcharselect"
2. Shift+Tab
3. Shift+Tab
4. Shift+Tab
5. Shift+Tab
6. Shift+Tab
7. Write your character description

Actual Results:
I waste 2 seconds of my life every time.

Expected Results:
1. Start KCharSelect
2. Write your character description right away.

I have to check why KCharSelect makes sure the focus is on the character table, in the meantime try Ctrl+F.
