Description Dotan Cohen 2010-08-05 10:07:34 UTC
Version: 0.10 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

Please provide an option to disable the countdown. I find that I am not using RSIbreak because it _often_ comes up when I am in the middle of something important that I must finish without breaking concentration. I need just another minute or two, but the confounded 30-second timeout catches me in the middle. A flashing system tray notification is enough, I don't need mommy standing over my back ready to pull the plug.

Reproducible: Always

You can right click the systray and put rsibreak on hold until you are done...

Besides the whole goal of rsibreak is to force you into breaks. I'm not going to make it easy to suspend breaks all the time. It defeats its purpose.

I'm never done, that is the way I work. 30 seconds is not enough time for me to prepare for a break. I may need 60 seconds, or 120. But I still need a break, that is the whole purpose of using RSIbreak: to tell me when.

I don't need to suspend the break, I need more than 30 seconds to prepare for the break. Just don't give me any arbitrary amount of time: the popup is enough to let me know that when I finish this particular bit of work, I should take a break.

Please reconsider.

That is the issue: it is forcing me to stop working. I would recommend giving an option to REMIND the user to take a break, instead of forcing him to. Some of us use the computer for work.

Then RSIBreak is not for you.... It has to be harsh and unpopular to do its work. If you can provide a patch for the 30s setting, I would be ok with that.

Tom, might you consider then making it easy to _postpone_ breaks, instead of making it easy to suspend them? This is one of the few features keeping me on Workrave when I'd really like to get back to RSIbreak.

Thanks.

SVN commit 1181680 by toma:

Make the time of the popup configurable. This way you can set it to 999 seconds, and basically never see the effect kick in. Dotan, that basically allowes you the workflow you want, right?

Thanks, Tom. I'm having a hard time compiling the 0.11 beta but it sounds good. I will take a look as soon as I can.

THANK YOU!!!!!
