Version: 1.2.0 (using KDE 4.4.95) OS: Linux Usage scenario of this feature-request: I have a photo, but I do not know what building was photographed. Maybe I have some rough idea, or geographic boundaries. Now I would like digiKam to send the photo to some online database with photos from a lot of other people who have tagged them. This service would then compare the photo to all the others and find out which look similar. It sends me the suggestions back, together with some of the other images. Then I select the most probable location / tags. This location (or tag) may then be send back to the database, so future searches become more accurate, having additional images to compare with. I think such service already exists, maybe it was Google, Microsoft or flickr (or someone similar) doing it. Reproducible: Didn't try
As far as I know, there is only those 2 services for search similar images: https://www.tineye.com/ http://images.google.com/ After, it could be time-consuming to get meta from all returned pictures and there is no way to be sure meta/location are right. Interface should allow to choose which information to recover (typical like comment/gps or free meta selection or text of search)
