Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.95) OS: Linux Dolphin freezes for some seconds, when right-clicking a file or when opening a file. It happens randomly and is not limited to a certain filetype, as it happens e.g. on rar files as well as jpg files. The file size also does not appear to be of importance for this bug, as it happened on files with a few KB as well as on files with a couple of hundred MB. After the freeze is gone, usually after 2–6 seconds, the triggered action is normally performed. I have enabled the file previews that appear when you hover a file with the cursor. I use the “Details” view. Reproducible: Sometimes This bug is really very annyoing. It renders Dolphin completely useless for file actions, since the freezes happen pretty regularly in very short periods of time. Hopefully this can be solved, since I really like Dolphin ;-)
Thanks for the report. Does disabling the tooltips "solve" the problem? Did you also enable the Information Panel (I guess not, but if 'yes': please also close it temporary)?
Here’s what I found out: Previously I had the tooltips enabled, but the information panel disabled. After disabling the tooltips it seemed like the freezes were gone. Afterwards, while the tooltips were still disabled, I enabled the information panel, and the freezes did occur again.
