Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.92) OS: Linux around every 5 boots, plasma shows only 2 of my system tray icons. the only thing, that helps is "kill plasma-desktop" and start it again. after that, all icons are shown again. I know some of the programs (for example kopete) are in background even if not shown. Reproducible: Sometimes OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34-12-desktop Compiler: gcc
"plasma shows only 2 of my system tray icons" which two? and which ones aren't shown? after restarting plasma-desktop, if you mouse over the now-shown ones do you get Plasma-style tooltip windows or Qt application style ones?
I remember only that one of them was always nm-applet (gnome networkmanager applet). The other questions have to wait until that problem happens again.
now it happened again. Shown are nm-applet and kde-device-manager-applet. Not shown are kopete, kmix, knemo, kbluetooth and battery-applet. the only application for which I get non-plasma-tooltips is nm-applet.
hm.. sounds like a problem with setting up the dbus based icons properly. curious: what version of Qt do you have installed?
qt-4.6.3
same problems with kde-4.5rc3. new started applications (like akregrator, audacious) are shown in the systemtray.
I noticed another interesting thing: when, after boot, the proble appears, also another problem appears: the classic kde-menu shows its menus without submenus, for example the menu should be kmenu -internet --browsers ---opera ---firefox --chat ---pidgin ---kopete -multimedia --players ---kaffeine ---xmms but it shows kmenu -internet --opera --firefox --pidgin --kopete -multimedia --kaffeine --xmms
problem still exists in 4.5.1
Created attachment 51326 [details] my standard icons after every second boot, I have to restart plasma first, to get the icons all shown. (the two icons working are nm-applet (second from left) and device-manager)
this still exists in 4.5.2, I am really annoyed from killing&starting plasma after most kde-starts since some months now.
this should be fixed by now.
