Description David John Mills 2010-07-23 04:27:12 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

I tried to add via "Akonadi resources configuration", chose "Add", selected "Akonadi Google contact resource", entered my username and password and was immediately told "invalid password". The same happens when attempting to add an "Akonadi Google Calendar Resource".

If I attempt via kaddressbook of kontact, I get asked for the username and password, but nothing happens - no resource gets added to the list.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
As detailed above.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34-12-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Using a different partition I reinstalled openSUSE 11.2 and then KDE 4.4.4. I get exactly the same behavior there. Obviously it works for most others from the other reports that I have found. What might be different about my setup?

That could be a problem with the resource's use of KWallet.

Maybe KWallet is denying access by the resource or it is disabled for that user account.

kwalletmanager is usually available in the system tray area of the main panel to check either possibility.

Do any other applications use the wallet successfully? E.g. KMail or Kopete for account passwords?

Hi, I doubt that it is a KWallet issue. I have been using KWallet for a long time always with success. All my email accounts (POP3) use KWallet, and indeed I received an email notification about Kevin's additional comment after starting kontact just now and I was asked for the KWallet master password and see KWallet in the System Tray now.
