Description Michal Svoboda 2010-07-22 08:15:19 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

When I change a configuration option in systemsettings that affects kwin (such as adding/removing desktop effect, configuring "window behavior"), kwin becomes semi-dead and needs to be --replace'd.

Semi-dead means that windows do not get shown/hidden on alt-tab or desktop change, which makes general work unusable.

The --replace works only half of the times, sometimes I have close the X session altogether.

Reproducible: Didn't try

please have a look at bug #241402 - do you think it's the same?

a) is it related to compositing?
b) can you
- switch the active window using the mouse?
- drag around windows?
c) do windows still update their content?
Comment 2 Michal Svoboda 2010-07-22 16:29:16 UTC
a) yes -> does not happen with suspended
b) no, no
c) no

The trick with alt shift f12 works to revive kwin.

If it's the same as bug #241402? You tell me.
