empty contact groups in kmail dialog

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

in kadressbook i can edit the contact groups, add new entries and see them all. So this seems to work.
But when i try so send an email to them, i usually have to select them one by one, as sending to an entire group doesn't work anymore.
Well, but now, all the entries of contact groups doesn't have an emailadress anymore, so i can't select them. so contact groups are completly useless at the moment. i have this issue on two systems.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Having some contacts stored in personal contacts
add a new contact group
add some contacts to the contact group
try to select the recipients at kmail dialog

Actual Results:
the contact group is shown with the number of entries, but they are empty, so now mail can be send to them

Expected Results:
the members should be visible and have their email adress so you can select them

this was first seen on kde 4.4 and still exists in kde 4.5 kubuntu ppa packages

sending an email to the entire group seems to work for me. have to try it out on the other one. but this bug still exists and need to be fixed soon i think. shouldn't be that hard i think.

Hej,

I can't reproduce this bug here with current version from 4.5 branch.
Do you see any error messages on the console? Is Nepomuk running correctly?

Ciao,
Tobias

I use the one from the ppa, so I don't know if this is the same version.
I didn't start from the console. Nepomuk seems to run correctly. How should I start kontact an/or akonadi to get some output?

If i select the contact group as recipient for the mail all members get an email. but i can't select only some members because the aren't displayed as in attachment #49385 [details]
Comment 7 Tobias Koenig 2010-07-22 11:16:00 UTC
Hej,

quit kontact, open a konsole window, type 'akonadictl stop', wait until akonadi server has been stopped, type 'akonadictl start'. Now all error messages/warnings of akonadi will be displayed inside the konsole window.

Ciao,
Tobias

Output of akonadi: http://kde.pastey.net/138836
Output of Kontact: http://kde.pastey.net/138837

i can send to the entiere group, but the members email address is not visible
Comment 9 Michael Dreher 2011-08-12 15:27:33 UTC
I can confirm this bug. In particular, also I can not select any group member as mentioned in comment #3. Moreover, it is not possible to send mails to a group. If I have a group "seminargroup" and try to send a mail to it, it gets send instead to the mail address "seminargroup@euler44" where "euler44" is the local name of my computer. Clearly, this email-address does not exist because it is not a valid address, and hence the addressbook is completely useless to me.

kmail --version says
Qt: 4.7.1
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.00 (4.6.0) "release 6"
KMail: 1.13.6

and akonadictl status says
Akonadi Control: running
Akonadi Server: running
Akonadi Server Search Support: available (backend: Virtuoso)

thanks,
Michael

We don't support KMail 1 anymore. So closing this
