Description Michal Hlavinka 2010-07-14 11:36:27 UTC
Version: SVN (using Devel)
OS: Linux

I've installed kde 4.5rc2 with kopete 1.0.80 and kopete produces too much messages to notification area and does not clean them.

1)If you have opened chat window without focus, you get 'user is typing' and 'new message' notifications, but when chat window gets focus, notifications stays there, they are not removed despite being obsolete

2)'user is typing' notification should be removed not only when chat window gets focus, but also when new message arrives

3)notification for 'user if typing' contains 'chat' button, but pushing that button does nothing

3)'contact changed status' notification should not be immortal too, but it should also disappear after some time or at least after contact list gets focus

after a few hours of work I have tons of kopete notifications which makes notifications quite useless

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
see description

Actual Results:
even obsolete notifications are persistent

Expected Results:
notifications should disappear after some time/after some event

"User is typing" notification could also be moved inside the chat window (just like the browser version of Google Chat), it is very annoying popping up on the screen, and cannot be disabled.
Thanks

Actually it displays inside the chat window in the statusbar. But is it really cannot be disabled? It may be another problem, if you cannot disable it.
Comment 3 Leonardo Giordani 2010-09-21 17:29:05 UTC
Sorry, I looked for it in the Configuration Window and not in Configure Notifications. Now I found it. Thanks

The problems mentioned in this bug entry seems fixed in 4.6.2. Can I close this bug?
Comment 5 Leonardo Giordani 2011-04-14 08:37:46 UTC
Yes for me it is solved. Thank you
Comment 6 Michal Hlavinka 2011-04-14 09:40:15 UTC
I don't see any change at all (1,2,3,4) which one (or all?) of these do you think is fixed?

All four problems seem fixed in 4.6.2. Which version are you using?
Comment 8 Michal Hlavinka 2011-04-14 16:48:38 UTC
kde 4.6.2, kopete 1.0.80 from kdenetwork 4.6.2

I've just tested it from new clean user account and did not see any change. Btw, 3) is probably not caused by kopete, because any button in any notification works only for a short time and then no button works. I did not test 4) in new clean account because it requires longer time, then I spent with just testing.
