Sorry. Didn't mean to push send without filling in all the boxes...

I have a bunch of podcasts that I subscribe to with Amarok, but they don't seem to be getting updated when new episodes come out.

I will go to the podcast's website and there are new episodes, so I go back to Amarok and either click "update all" or just update the one podcast but no new episode shows up.

I thought maybe the website was updated, but not the rss, but downloading the xml that is listed in the podcast's configured URL in Amarok, I can see the new episode listed. It just doesn't show up in Amarok's Podcasts list.

Please upgrade to Amarok 2.3.1, this is already fixed. See also http://kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.3.1
Comment 3 missive 2010-08-22 16:32:21 UTC
I am using 2.3.1 now, and podcasts still do not show updates.
Comment 4 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-08-23 01:29:07 UTC
I just checked with the version 2.3.1 and a different user, it sure updates here. Maybe there is something wrong with your settings.

Also, if you check bug 231230, also fixed in version 2.3.1, if there were no updates at all, it couldn't be fixed :)

Please test with a new user and report back.

I had this problem with older versions and now it has resurrected on Amarok
Version 2.3.90 using KDE 4.5.90 (4.6 RC1)

My podcasts are set to automatically scan for updates and download when available. E.g. the feed below normally gets a new entry ~19:00 (GMT+1) on weekdays. I listen to it around midnight. Since using 2.3.90 the feed isn't updated and it doesn't help to click "Update channel" in the context menu. Only if I shut down Amarok, start it again and choose "Update channel" the feed is updated and the new episode is downloaded.

I could not find anything wrong with the feed or the auto-update code. Make sure autoscan is enabled for that channel like in the screenshot.

It is configured exactly like in the screen shot except that I limit the number of episodes to 3 as they're quite big (~100MB each)

Did anything change w.r.t. your Solid::Network backend i.e. did you switch it or installed something related?

Manual update at least should still be working.

It's also likely the view just isn't updating or the new episode is not properly (re)loaded from SQL.
I propose you try a up-to-date git version since quite a few enhancements were made recently.

Not to my knowledge. I upgraded to KDE SC 4.6 RC1 and it got borked so at had to completely remove KDE, install it again and then upgrade once more. Maybe something has changed. I run a normal wired network connected to a cable modem and it just works out of the box.

I'll try again tonight to see if the problem persists.

Well, yes, that is off course an option ;-)

As things often goes with bug reports Amarok acted just fine tonight and fetch the episode without any intervention :-)

Closing correctly.
Comment 14 missive 2012-05-05 18:15:45 UTC
I am now on Amarok 2.5.0 on KDE 4.8.2 and I still have this issue.

When first started, Amarok works properly and podcasts will get updated, but after a day or so, they stop getting updates.

Clicking on either the individual "Update Channel" or the main podcast "Update All" button does nothing. If Amarok is restarted, the buttons again work properly and podcasts can be updated.
Comment 15 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-11-24 08:20:41 UTC
I can't reproduce this here with current git, please test with the git version or with Amarok 2.7 beta, to be released in a few days.

NEEDSINFO -> RESOLVED. (keeping resolution) so that it doesn't show up in our REMINDER mails.
Comment 17 graeme.thorn 2013-03-10 00:11:18 UTC
I suffer the same issue with the latest version (2.7.0) on ubuntu 12.10, as in podcasts are not updated (and manual updating doesn't happen either) after a day or so of aamrok running. I have specifically updated to the latest stable ubuntu and the latest amarok to get around this issue (which occurred with 2.5 on 12.04), but this problem is no less inconvenient.
