Description Thomas Bleher 2010-07-11 10:46:52 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

Under KDE 3, there was an extended name dialog, where complex names could be partitioned by hand into "first name", "last name" and so on. This is missing in KDE 4.4. For me this is a regression, because software will never split all names correctly, and I need all names to be correctly stored in the DB.

Example use case where this is important:
I regularly export some addresses to OpenOffice Calc and want to sort them, first by last name, then by first name. Last name and first name must be in different columns. This of course can only work if the data is correct in the DB!

Therefore please add back an extended name dialog.
Thanks!

Reproducible: Always

Hej,

this dialog will be back in KDE-PIM 4.5

Ciao,
Tobias

Thank you for the fast response!
Will it be possible to use KAddressbook 4.5 with an otherwise unmodified KDE SC 4.4? AFAIK Debian Squeeze will ship with KDE SC 4.4, and I'd like to stay with that, but KAddressbook 4.4 is unusable for me due to numerous bugs and missing features. So it would be really cool if the new KAddressbook was easily installable and usable on KDE SC 4.4.
