Description Sabine Faure 2010-07-09 19:28:20 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

If the user attach a picture to an email and encrypt it the recipient sees only a bunch of letters and numbers after decrypting it instead of an image.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Prerequisite: for testing this bug you need to have a working encryption set up both for the sender and the recipient of the email.

- Launch Kontact and go to Kmail
- Click on 'New'
- Fill in the recipient (yourself), the subject and enter a few words in the text editor
- Go to the Attach menu/Attach File...
- Browse on your HD and select a picture
- Click on the 'Attach' button
- The picture is attached to the email properly
- Click on the attached file and go to Attach menu/Attachment Properties
- Check the 'Encrypt this attachment' check box and click on 'Ok'
- An 'Encryption Key Approval' dialogue appears
- Click on 'Ok'
- The email is properly sent
- Open the received email and click on 'Decrypt Message'
- Enter your password

Actual Results:
The attachment seems to be decrypted but under 'Encrypted message' there are only a bunch of letters and numbers

Expected Results:
whereas the picture should be displayed instead.

I forgot to mention that the encryption format I used while testing this is OpenPGP.

Can you still reproduce? Following exactly those steps works here.
Comment 3 Leo Franchi 2010-07-20 22:00:51 UTC
Looks like this for me:

Created attachment 49444 [details]
Snapshot of a picture sent encrypted after it has been received and decrypted.

For me it still looks like this unfortunately when attaching a .jpg.

Any idea why?
