Always present in kde 4.5 rc3!

works perfectly here.
What gpu driver are you using? I use nvidia closed source and nouveau, both work.
Comment 3 Cédric Bellegarde 2010-07-27 09:45:41 UTC
Nvidia drivers

i think you might have hit a nvidia bug (if in the end it's really a nvidia bug or not i don't know, i only know that it does work with the other drivers.)

I have a workaround for you.

activate the second monitor in the nvidia-settings, do no press the apply button yet.
Check the checkbox for your first screen to be the primary screen.
apply the changes. A dialog will popup to confirm those the changes.
press cancel
press apply again.

now the screens should be correct.

Have you had installed KDE 4.5 Beta 1? I had and the problem was going on forever.
There was or is a bug in the new "Activities" feature.
In Beta 1 (and 2 I think) KDE's plasma-desktop creates a new activity every time you log on and duplicates the old one in a weird way.
Click on the plasma cashew (or now its that thing that displays the activity's name), select activities and delete all of the unneccessary ones, just leave the one you've configured correctly. Should be working now.

I don't think it's an nvidia bug... As it works for plasma panels... Only desktop plasmoids fail...

For activities, i have no activity and can't add any (maybe this is the bug).

I have the same problem with KDE 4.5.0, Mandriva 2010 Spring packages, nvidia proprietary driver.

Problem comes from activities services not running (but why ?).

Enabling it will cause it to break your conf (one activie on screen 1 and other on screen 2), so rm plasma*rc :(

A plasma per plasmoid conf file should be cool :(
