Description niburu1 2010-07-08 12:09:42 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

Sometimes when clicking the "last page" button, Okular jumps all over the document (perhaps the jumping is more principled than this) and does not wind up at the last page. I have to click it again. If I press the "back in the document" button I can see where Okular wildly navigated to.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a document, perhaps navigate around a bit, then invoke the "last page" command.

Actual Results:
Sometimes Okular wildly navigates all over the document.

Expected Results:
Okular navigates to the last page only.

Okular version 0.10.5

Can you define "wildly navigates all over the document"? You mean it does a fast scroll? And what does "wind up" mean (sorry my english is not so great)?

Sorry, I meant that when I invoke the "last page" command, sometimes it does not go to the last page, or if it does, it immediately goes to many other pages and then stops at a page that is not the last page.

E.g. suppose I'm reading a 20 page document. On page 3 I invoke the last page command. Instead of going to the last page, it goes to (perhaps the last page and then) page 15, then 14, then 13, then 12, then 11, transitioning between pages very quickly. So I end up at page 11 instead of the last page, page 20.

How do you invoke the last page command? Menu? Shortcut?
Do you have a way to reproduce it? Or it happens randomly?
Comment 4 niburu1 2010-07-13 00:55:17 UTC
To invoke the command I use a menu button I added to the Main Toolbar <okular_part>.

I can't consistency reproduce it, but I had I pdf open just now and reproduced it. I was on page 7, clicked the Last Page button, and I was taken to page 8, then page 19, then 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, and finally 11 (according to the Back in the Document command). All of this happened very quickly, within a couple of seconds at most.

It seems to happen randomly, but it happens quite often. I'll try to see if any patterns emerge.

Actually I think I was already on page 8. In any case, it appears that it takes one to the last page and then goes back a number of pages, page-by-page.

I'm confident the problem only arises when Trim Margins is enabled. (I typically have it enabled.) I have not been able to reproduce the problem with Trim Margins disabled.

I also notice that the bug occurs even when navigating by entering page numbers in the bottom "status" bar.

Can you try to see if this still happens in okular >= 0.19.0 (KDE Applications >= 4.13.0)? I don't seem to be able to reproduce it but it seems it's a weird combination of things.

It'd also be great if you could attach a document you are using that always reproduces this problem.

Thanks for caring about Okular :-)

I just took a few minutes to try to reproduce it and couldn't. I suppose it's best to close this and reopen if it ever happens to anyone ever again. Thanks for getting back about it.
