Can someone of you please build Kate according to the howto on http://kate-editor.org/get-it/ and check whether the error is also in the current development version? Would be greatly appreciated!!
Works fine for me, but I could not find exact instructions how to reproduce this bug, so can't say for sure.
I deleted the session I was using and started over, and haven't had the issue again. Perhaps it was something to do with how a file came into that session.
