Description Julian Seward 2010-07-05 14:36:59 UTC
Version: 1.13.2 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

Running kmail over vnc on Ubuntu 10.04 (x86_64), has worked fine for a
a few weeks. However, following some strangeness with keyboard handling
earlier this morning, right clicking on any folder list entry only produces
a popup entitled "Multiple Folders" with "Copy Folders To" and
"Move Folders To" sub-menus. This is different from "normal" operation
in that operations on a single folder are no longer possible. It seems
like kmail thinks multiple folders are selected.

I have no idea how to return to "normal" state. Restarting kmail
does not help. Neither does a session restart, or a vnc server
restart help, even with killing all kde-related processes by hand.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
I don't know how kmail got in this state and so can't repro.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-22-generic
Compiler: cc

I don't know why selecting another folder will not simply unselected the old selection, must be somehow related to VNC.

You can work around that by changing the KMail config file in $KDEHOME/share/config/kmailrc. You'll see some entries like MainFolderViewItemIsSelected=true. Remove those lines.

Is this report still valid in recent kmail versions ? (>=4.7.4)

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
