(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kicker Version: KDE 2.1.1 Severity: wishlist Installed from: Mandrake RPMs Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 19991030 (prerelease) OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified It would be nice if there was a configuration tool to specify an ical or vcal file that the kclockapplet would use to populate free busy time with a basic browser. Also an action configuration which would allow a person to click on a date that has a meeting specified and have it open the organizer. This would allow for people not using korganizer to open their tools while still getting the integration. I know nothing about the small calendar applet that is on the clock so I don't know if this is possible without reworking that piece but it seems as though it would be interesting. Two more things related to clock applet: 1) Ship it with just local timezone! Every time I install kde on a newbie's house I need to go through that sparse list and disable every enabled item, otherwise they bug me "Why is this clock showing London time?! I'm in Brazil!". It's a great feature, but used by few and should be off by default. If you want to promote this feature, put it in tutorials, kandalf tips or ask for review people to clarify this feature. But not on by default. 2) In the calendar window (the one that appears when you click the clock) put a button to toggle the display of events of today (or the selected day), in order. If possible this should not bloat the current UI, maybe put it at the right side of week number. Also if possible, do some cool effect with it, like drop down! :)
Very good idea! I genralized it to lcik a day and execute a command see bug #127543
