Description Juan Luis Baptiste 2010-06-21 16:43:39 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

When adding the microblogging applet and not using kwallet for storing the password, the applet doesn't remember it and has to be entered each time. And when entering it won't immediately refresh the post, you will need to switch to replies or messages and then back to timeline to see the new posts.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Disable kwallet
2. Add the microblogging widget to the desktop and configure it.
3. Close session.
4. Start again session.
5. See the microblogging applet blank, and if you see it's configuration details you will the twitter password empty.
6. Add a password.
7. See that the applet doesn't refresh automatically to get new posts.
8. Click on messages, wait for them to appear and then click back on timeline to get the new posts.

Actual Results:
The microblogging applet doesn't remember the passwords so it doesn't show any posts.

Expected Results:
The microblogging applet should remember the password when not using kwallet and should automatically refresh the posts after a password is entered.

It happens with any widget style, I'm using default Air right now.

do you get an error message complaining that kwallet is enabled asking you if you want to save the password in the config file instead?

No I don't.

Same problem for me with KDE 4.5.2.
Comment 4 Mohit Kothari 2010-10-19 17:58:02 UTC
Is it ok if the password is saved in a config file in encrypted format?
Comment 5 Juan Luis Baptiste 2010-10-19 18:29:24 UTC
For me it's ok.

The patch enables the functionality to remember the password when kdewallet is disabled

Initially the config file did store the password for the account but didnt read it if wallet was disabled.

Now it does and remembers the password.

If any problems pleas mail me.

thank you,
mohit

Is the patch working correctly???
Comment 8 Juan Luis Baptiste 2010-10-21 16:34:24 UTC
Right now I don't have how to test it, I don't have KDE sources to try it out. I suppose we have to wait until the assignee of this bug reviews it.

I'm having this same problem in 4.7.1. In fact, the Microblogging widget has never retained login information for me, on any computer, and on any version of KDE. I actually gave up on it a version or two ago, and tried it again today. When I first configure it, it works fine, until I log out. When I log in again, I have to go into the settings and re-enter my login information again. For me this is 100% reproducible, it never retains the information. I've tried removing the plasmoid and re-adding it, but it doesn't help.
