Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4) OS: Linux I have two virtual desktops with different activities on each of them. The first display "search & launch", the second — "folder view". Amarok switches to another desktop unexpectedly, after I add some media files to playlist from thence. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run amarok on the first desktop and minimize it to the task bar. 2. Switch to the second desktop. 3. Click on a some media file on the desktop to add it into the amarok's play list. 4. Switch back to the first desktop. 5. Try to restore amarok from task bar. The same happens with VLC, but the fifth paragraph did not work there, so we need to add a sixth (that would work with amarok too). 6. Hide VLC to system tray and then try to restore it. Expected Results: I think application should stay on the desktop, where it was launched.
In KDE 4.7 RC2 there is a few more bugs with this.
Created attachment 62140 [details] Taskbar bug http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fdw77pnZis Firstly I think that the bug with empty tabs only related to the smooth tabs widjet, but you can see that the default KDE taskbar has empty tabs too, but display only free space instead.
I assume this is related to the activity-per-desktop thing? My vague guess is that adding a song to amaroks playlist will attempt to launch amarok for this activity but because amarok is a KUniqueApplication the application is "moved" to that activity. Attaching Chani since this is likely an activity problem.
Sorry, I should be to set english locale before. All works fine when I using the "add into playlist" option, problem occurs when I using the "open in" menu instead.
ok, i want to get get rid of this bug a) Please check whether this would likely fall into the categories of bug #285053 b) Do you think it would be reasonable to only change the activity when a client gets activated by the taskbar or a pager, and if it's activated for other reasons, it's simply added to the currently active activity? Thanks for your assistance and sorry that the bug has been hanging around for so long.
"One activity per desktop" is gone from plasmashell. how to handle activities window-wise is another, more general and fundamental issue.
