Description esby 2010-06-12 23:18:07 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

Each time a file is sent to flickr upload, the file is reencoded as a jpeg.
The quality setting is used.
This is troublesome when the file uploaded is already a jpeg, since this will result in a slight loss of quality.
Now the feature/bug is useful when you have a tiff to uploaded to flickr, since it will encode it as a jpeg.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
upload a jpeg file to flickr, compare original filesize.

Expected Results:
jpeg should not be reencoded if possibly.
There should be an option to let the user decide if the file needs to be reencoded or not.

This results in quality loss during the upload.

I believe this is duplicate of http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=212106

Just FYI, patch attached to bug 212106 still works with all kipi-plugins up to and including 1.8.0.
