Description Bernhard Jungk 2010-06-11 11:24:37 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

The background image on the second display has to be set twice to be really displayed. The first try results in a completely black background, the second try works.

Reproducible: Always

and this is only on the second screen, not the first?

I think that my original bug report is slightly different to the duplicates (that bug I noticed, too). The original problem of this bug report was, that only the background was completely black and was correct after setting the background image a second time.

The new bug with the RC1 is, that the second display isn't noticed at all, if the dual screen setup is configured after plasma-desktop is started. Therefore, there is no context menu, and the background image cannot be set at all! Restarting plasma-desktop is a workaround for this problem, because if the dual screen setup is configured *before* plasma-desktop is started, the second display works as expected.

Furthermore, I think, that the original bug is solved with the RC1, because I didn't encounter that specific problem again with RC1.

I also think the bugs are different. But i post my comments in this moment here.

today i test some thinks and i notice , when i start nvidia settings and switch the position of the displays all works fine. then i logout and login one display is allready black. Now i switch the displays the next time all work fine.

I put a pannel on the screen all works fine, when i logout and login again i see a working screen and a black screen with a panel.

For a working setup i must switch the screens again!

This seems to be fixed in RC2, at least I can't reproduce it now. The bug described in the "duplicates" is not reproducable for me either with RC2.

4.4.92 (KDE 4.4.92 (KDE 4.5 RC2)) fixed the problem for me!

Thanks
