Version: unspecified (using Devel) OS: Linux After upgrading to KDE 4.4.85 I've started experiencing problems with plasmoid sizes. Every time I log in, all plasmoids on my desktop (not the ones in the panel) have strange sizes. Folderview is a bit oversized, Superkaramba is squished in half. This happens every single time when I relog. Size changes don't seem to stick. There was no such problem in KDE 4.4.81. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1) Upgrade do KDE 4.4.85. 2) Relog. Actual Results: Desktop plasmoids have weird sizes. Expected Results: Plasmoids remember the size I set them to. Qt: 4.6.3 KDE: 4.4.85 (KDE 4.4.85 (KDE 4.5 Beta2))

Got same issue (two users on one computer).

Sorry, but this is not really a dupe of bug 238699. The workarounds and fixes provided there do nothing. The wallpaper, plasmoids and mouse actions in the activity are saved and restored properly. It's a different problem altogether. If anything, this bug sounds like a dupe of bug 241341. The problem is as follows: Every time I relog, three of the plasmoids on my desktop have strange geometries and size changes don't stick. I'd be inclined to say they are falling back to their default size, but the superkaramba applet is squished vertically beyond it's default size. I hoped that applying the fix in rev 1136767 would resolve this, but this is sadly not the case.
Just noticed something: the geometry quirk is exclusive to the desktop containment. Switching to the folderview containment makes the offending plasmoids behave properly.
i cced chani, she might know if this is a dupe or not. i tend to think that it is. please retest with rc1 as soon as possible or get current trunk from somewhere. there is the possibility of buggy plasmoids, just in the current situation less likely than that general problem that affects plasmoids / containments in beta 2
umm, that screenshot just shows a portion of one system-monitor widget. perhaps you uploaded the wrong image? :) it kinda sounds as if the screen gets the wrong size on login (although a screenshot would make it easier to see if that's the case). it *might* be related to bug 241496. it's absolutely not a dup of 238699, but it could be a dup of 241341.
Sorry, I figured that was enough. It's just some oversized/squished plasmoids, after all. I'll post a before/after screenshot, if you want. For what it's worth, changing the activity type to folderview solves the problem. Switching back to the desktop containment causes the plasmoids to scale to awkward sizes. So it doesn't happen exclusively on logon. So an easier way to reproduce would be: 1) Make sure you're using the desktop containment. 2) Resize one of the plasmoid. 3) Switch the activity type to folderiew and back to desktop. Result: The plasmoid won't retain the size you set it to.

I bet it's a duplicate :) can you test with trunk? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 241341 ***
The bug still persists with rev 1136767 applied on top of 4.4.85. So, unless I'm missing another fix that needs to be backported, the bug is still there.
crap. :( well, at least switching the type suggests it's a duplicate of a different bug... that one's not solved though. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 198696 ***
(In reply to comment #13) > The bug still persists with rev 1136767 applied on top of 4.4.85. So, unless > I'm missing another fix that needs to be backported, the bug is still there. Also not working here. CCing myselft to the dupe.
I have the same problem since the upgrade to 4.5 beta (1+2). Happens with locked and unlocked plasmoids. Affected for me are the notes and system-monitor plasmoids. I think I remember this happening before, from 4.2 to 4.3 or somewhere around then, don't know for sure. Kubuntu 10.04, running KDE 4.5 beta 2 from the beta ppa.
Forgot: Also affected: the CWP weather plasmoid.
