Description Laurent Léonard 2010-06-10 01:03:16 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

I'm using IMAP and GroupDAV "traditional KDE resources" to manage contacts and calendars from IMAP and eGroupware. Sometimes when I add/modify/remove a contact or an event in the calendar, the change is done on Akonadi, but not on the remote resource. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, if I restart Akonadi, changes are loosed, but if I redo my changes it generally works again.

If I make changes on my remote resource, I have to restart Akonadi and Kontact to see the changes on Kontact...

If I use IMAP or GroupDAV calendar resources without Akonadi it works great, I have no problem at all. But now KAddressBook is exclusively based on Akonadi it is no more possible to manage contacts the old way.

I think Akonadi is a great concept, but users should have the choice to use working system instead of a new one, thechnically better but not ready for production...

Reproducible: Sometimes

Hej Laurent,

with the upcoming KDE 4.5 we provide Akonadi-based IMAP and GroupDav resources which should be used instead of the compatibility bridge.
We are aware of the problems, however they are difficult till impossible to fix because of the design of the old KResource framework. That's the main reason why we started developing Akonadi at all ;)
So please switch to KDE 4.5 and enjoy the Akonadi-based resources.

Ciao,
Tobias
