Description Todd 2010-06-07 19:18:06 UTC
Version: 2.2 (using Devel)
OS: Linux

When copying and pasting a table from a web browser into kspread, each row of the table is put into a single cell, even if there are multiple cells in each row. I end up with as many rows as were in the original table but only one column. openoffice.org calc, on the other hand, properly divides up the cells in each row so you get a table with the same layout as the one on the website.

I've tried copying and pasting tables from firefox, konqueror, and rekonq, and all work properly with openoffice.org calc but none work properly with kspread. Firefox and rekonq both copy as tab-separate values, while konqueror copies as values separated by 4 spaces.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Copy part of a table from a website. Try here for example: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.5_Feature_Plan#kdebase-apps

You can use firefox, konqueror, or rekonq (and perhaps others, but only those three have been tested).

Then select a cell in kspread and hit "paste" (either the keyboard shortcut, toolbar button, right-click menu, or middle-mouse button).

Actual Results:
You get a bunch of rows, one for each row of the table, but only one column containing the entire row. Within the one cell in each row, there is a line of text with what should be separate cells separated by a tab or spaces (depending on the source web browser).

Expected Results:
You get a table with as many rows and columns as there were in the original, with the relative position of the cells faithfully reproduced in the spreadsheet.

In the case of the website mentioned, you should get four columns and however many rows you selected, with the first column being the status, the second being the project, the third being the description, and the fourth being the contact.
