Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

I run kde 4.5 beta 1 and tried kblocks in this release, I noticed that theres an option to play against AI, I tried it, but it is unplayable slow for me, for example when I press "down" the down speed doesnt increase because its so slow.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Play kblocks in "human vs AI"

Actual Results:
Runs painfully slow.

Expected Results:
Should run smooth.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-22-generic
Compiler: cc

I've got decent hardware, 2.2ghz dual core processor, 4gb ram and intel graphics.
Thanks :)

I've tested on my Ubuntu of 1.5G memory and AMD Turion64 X2 CPU, the game speed is fine. Currently my KDE version is 4.4. I would later try the latest release to reproduce the problem you mentioned. Thanks for your report.

I have tested the KBlocks AI on KDE 4.4.82 which is the latest version by now, and could not reproduce the bug.

I would appreciate if you could provide more information on your OS and compiler, so taht I could try to build a similar environment for further testing. Thanks.

I run Kubuntu 10.04 64 bit, kblocks version is 0.3, the KDE SC packages are from the kubuntu experimental ppa: https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/experimental
Please let me know if you need more information.

I have tested the Kubuntu 10.04 64bit on my machine with the package you mentioned above, and also the KBlocks package. The KBlocks binary from installed package runs smoothly without any problem. I would need to ask you whether you are using the installed binary or a self-built version from source code?

I have no self-built software on my laptop, I guess the kblocks package is from the kubuntu ppa: https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ppa

When I play Human vs AI, the CPU usage on both my cores goes up to 100% memory usage is about 30mb, but around 25mb are shared memory.

So to clarify, kblocks is from the aforementioned ppa (kubuntu updates, shouldnt be to shady) and the kde sc packages (4.5 beta 1) are from kubuntu experimental.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

I'd tested KBlocks on two other Kubuntu computers, and the problem did not occur in both of the computers. One computer was using an upgraded Kubuntu from older version, and the other was using a clean installed latest version of Kubuntu.

Since I did not see the problem reproducing, I would think there might be some tiny problems with your system. Have you found any other applications of KDE on your computer with the same problem? Or if you have time, would you please try to install a latest Kubuntu from scratch, and test again on your computer?

I am sorry that I could not give you more help than this. I will not close this report, and will wait for your information.

Thank you.

Kblocks is very hard to play here too, the pieces take too much time to respond. The falling speed of the pieces is fine, but turning of a piece lags. It depends a lot on the theme. It is playable with acceptable responsiveness e.g. with the black and white theme I installed via getnewstuff.

AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+, Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS, 2 GB RAM here, KDE 4.5.1 Debian unstable, display resolution 1920x1200, game preferably fullscreen.
