Description Aere 2010-06-04 05:19:55 UTC
Version: 1.13.2 (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

Although KMail's address book supports address book categories (imported from the 9.10 version of Kubuntu/KMail, and they can be used in selecting e-mail addresses displayed (with which a select-all can be done), it does not allow you to enter a category for a contact being newly created.

This lack of backward compatibility invalidates my newsletter address-list scheme used for years.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Enter a new contact.

Try to find somewhere in the dialog box to enter a category.

Actual Results:
No way found to enter a category.

Expected Results:
Should be some way to select (and enter a new) category, such as family, newsletter-recipients, etc.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-22-generic
Compiler: cc

I agree 100%! I have several filters that no longer work because the 'category' field has disappeared! Being able to filter on categories was really useful, both for receiving and sending email.

Major regression. :(

In KDEPIM 4.6 beta5 this is possible, so it will be fixed with 4.6

Yes, typing the first category letters in the recipients picker filters the addresses automatically.

Fixed in kdepim 4.6
