Look at the menu options. it appears that the settings menu actions have been commented out of kword/part/KWView.cpp, and there is not a dialog for settings/preferences, like there is for kspread (kspread/part/dialogs/PreferenceDialog.cpp)

Calligra Words is a complete joke! I've been in IT 30 years and with the exception of Windows ME, haven't seen anything sadder. Development of Calligra Words is slow, probably because there are working alternatives available, e.g. LibreOffice Writer. Still, Calligra developers are continuously improving it, so if you have specific issues, please report them separately.
