Description Philipp Woelfel 2010-06-01 03:39:42 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

When executing a forward search in okular for a TeX-file, okular opens the PDF or DVI document on the page for which one executed the search. However, it would be nice, if the user could quickly find the line or at least the paragraph of the search. Some visual feedback could achieve this, for example highlighting the relevant line or paragraph for a couple of seconds.

This would be tremendously helpful for LaTeXing complicated documents.

Yes, that would be definitely a great help for all LaTeX users.

I'll +1 this as well. SumatraPDF for Windows does have this feature (temporarily highlighting the line in the PDF file) and it is very useful.

I think SyncTeX gives a rectangle of the page on it's output, which makes this even easier (could not find documentation for it's output format...):

    x:155.464050
    y:112.982956
    h:89.292244
    v:117.964276
    W:416.691071
    H:16.936472

This feature is also present in Texmaker.

Would be cool if any of you guys that know how to use forward search it could give it a try, the forward search is relatively "separated" code in okular, should not be "that hard" and we're here to provide some guidance
