-- Information about the crash:
after closing kontact and rebooting the computer I had the error window come up saying "kontact already running" after clicking OK kontact opened 2 windows and would not retrieve mail from the IMAP server. Closing 1 window caused the crash. 

on Kubuntu 10.04 all software is from the repo.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.
