Version: (using KDE 4.4.3) OS: Linux Installed from: Fedora RPMs Following are the steps which indicates the problem. 1. open kate or write 2. write lots of text in editor. might be 2 or 3 lines is sufficient. now select some of the text. 3. now either minimize the application or open another application. 4. now make again focus to opened editor (kate/kwrite) now selected text will disappear. -- desired result is it should show the select text.
Works for me with /trunk, this looks more like a problem with repaint, => qt/x11.
Surprise to see status is resolved? Whether it will come in next update? because for the current case its not yet resolved.
We already have a report for that, where the status is set to WAITING FOR INFO. As long as noone of us can reproduce, there is nothing we can do about it. What configuration do you use? Focus follows mouse? ... Anything that is non-default? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 220308 ***
Kate , Kwrite both are using default configuration. This thing happen for all kde editor (ie kate , kwrite) as far as gedit selection is working properly thats the reason I have reported this bug here.
Ok, since you use KDE 4.4: Please compile Kate yourself from gitorious: http://gitorious.org/kate/pages/Building%20Kate The howto is very easy and your global KDE installation won't be touched. Do you still have the problem with this development version?
Rather making different installation. i would like make the solution which will work for all. I know you will do in that fashion. but making the compilation version on my machine will not good. I am end user. I will like to provide env. details to you so that this will not happen to rest of people. Whatever the things you want from my end I will provide. but I don't want to make/compile to make another kate. because this is not just for kate this problem also appears on kwrite.
The point is, if we are not able to reproduce, we cannot do anything about it... As I said: You will not touch your global installation. Nothing will break. All in all it takes around 15 minutes. If you are not willing to do that, we can stop spending time here... simply because there is nothing we can do... :) Thanks.
