Description Damian D 2010-05-19 11:13:55 UTC
Version: 1.13.2 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-22-generic

have just upgraded from kubuntu 8.04. I was accustomed to organising messages by dragging them to their destination in the Folder treeview on the left hand side and folders would automatically open if the dragged message hovered over them. This feature no longer works.

We can see why it was disabling:

  // Disable auto-expanding, because it will actually do auto-collapsing, too,
  // which makes manually reordering folders unusable.
  // Trolltech issue N220934
  //setAutoExpandDelay( gDNDAutoExpandDelay );

I'm also missing this great functionality. The auto-expanding AND auto-collapsing is an incredible feature (which now works well on the plasma folder view applet) and I would really like to see it come back to K-Mail.

IMO ordering folders is really an insignificant feature compared to auto expanding. Besides, I'm pretty sure it should be easy to set up so that auto-expanding only happens when you drag a message and not a folder, in which case it wouldn't interfere with folder reordering.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
