Version: (using KDE 4.4.3) OS: Linux Installed from: openSUSE RPMs When searching for the scanning application today, I found out that this is a pretty hard task. In the Alt-f1 menu, I entered in the search field "scan". Results: * Yast2 scanner module * Simple Scan - the GNOME equivalent to skanlite * XSane - correct, but not what I searched for ;) * "Bilder Einlesen" - without an icon, so it was not immediately clear that this was an application, it could have been a web browser bookmark or something like that. I remembered that there was a new applikation that replaked kooka, but it took me some time to rekall that it was kalled skanlite, and that I had to type skan into the searkhbox to find it. I found that "Bilder einlesen" starts "/usr/bin/scangui -icon -caption Bilder einlesen" which is almost the same as "skanlite", but it is in english (even though I have set my desktop to german locale) and it has no Icon. and it appears subtly more buggy (regarding resizing of its windows etc). Maybe a simple change to the desktop file of skanlite would help, so that it gets found more easily when searching for the obvious phrase. (this is also filed as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=602870) Lubos suggested that it's an i18n issue for the german localization, but I'm not sure about that.
Moved to correct component de. Filed new BR 238150 about the untranslatable scangui issue
