Description Leonardo La Malfa 2010-05-16 23:45:15 UTC
Version: 0.4.0 (using 4.4.2 %28KDE 4.4.2%29%2C Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux %28i686%29 release 2.6.32-22-generic

It is really quite nice that Rekonq inherited, among other things, Web Shortcuts and Default Search Engine from Konqueror. I have set the latter to Google, but using special characters in Rekonq yields strange results. Please, see the following example searches:

ubuntu+loco+sticker -> this search in the address bar/search field will translate in ubuntu%2Bloco%2Bsticker in the following Google page, with 0 usable results. If I edit it reinserting the + sign, I will then be shown correctly about 22.900.

"linux for human beings -> this search will translate into %22linux for human beings, returning only 439 almost useless results. By correcting it again, however, I will get 59.200 results.

It would be really useful if special characters were allowed in the search field. Many thanks.

This problem has just been fixed in master and we just have 3 or 4 report
opened (and now closed) against it.

Leonardo, please stop reporting bug against 0.4 release.

Hi Andrea, what do you mean exactly? Isn't that the last version? I've
downloaded it from KPackageKit. Should I stop reporting bugs against the
current version and wait for the next one to be made available in the package
manager, or? Thanks for clarifying.

I'm just saying that all the bug you reported are just been closed in master.
I don't know what's your distro, but I'm aware ubuntu and others have packages
for the master version (actually, 0.4.68+ or rekonq_20100515, today).
We work a lot to maintain as stable as possible the master branch.
Please, upgrade to one of these packages and search as better as possible in
the closed bugs before reporting one new.

Regards,

My distro is Kubuntu 10.04. I thought I did check them thoroughly, sorry if I
missed closed bugs. Alright, thanks for clarifying.
