Description Michal Augustyniak 2010-05-14 00:59:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.5)
Compiler: sys-devel/gcc-4.3.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

ok folks, it beying a while since I noticed that annoying issue.

I have noticed so far 3 applications which starts but are invisible. Start from terminal or via menu it does not matter. First when I start digikam or amarok I can see the first initialization window menu represents the software, then nothing happens. That window stays on till I click on it.

How I know that apps are actully open ? the process exists and during shutting down the system, when system closes all apps desktop then it goes black which is correct for me and pretty normal, and then on that black screen what I see ???? I see amarok or digikam or dragon player are actully there, apps livs UNDER THE DESKTOP (plasma ?)

I have tried recompile them as well as kdelibs and posibble releated packages. I removed .kde4 directory to see if some stupd hidden widget cousing the problem.

I use gentoo I tried add and removed the flags on left and right, nothing....

I posted a bug to gentoo bugs system, did not get any respond yet. (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319455)

Sorry for english folks I am so pissed of that type randomly from my mind.

Please help guys I could try post a video if anybody will be interested.

do they show up in alt-tab? do they show up in the systme tray (for amarok, anyways)? do they show up in the process listing in ctrl-escape? what window manager are you using (e.g. kwin)?

you're the first to report this issue, and plasma doesn't actually manage the window stacking, so ...

They are not listed under alt-tab and systray. However thay are listed in ctrl-esc as a process.

During start up from kde menu amarok and digikam show up on few seconds on botton pannel, then disappearing.

I use default kde4 setting, did not change anyting. Default kde4 effects
, fade, login, logout, minimize animationm shadow, slide, taskbar thumbnails, transulency, dialog parent, box switch, desktop, grid, present windows. Did not disabled them to check of the issue is gone yet.

Windows Manager Decoration: ozone, Theme: oxygen, Enabled Gtk Styles and fonts using QTCurve style. And yes I guess its Kwin. I do not use compiz or any other the default effects of kde4.

Thank you for respond.

ok, so they aren't even showing windows then; this really isn't a plasma issue and as much as i'd love to have the manpower to do so, we can't offer user support for every unrelated technical issue on an installation. sorry :( best of luck on finding out the issue, though! perhaps running the apps from a konsole window will help you with some useful output there..

Fixed: it was phonon problem.

PluginLoader::KPluginLoader: Could not find plugin/library for "phononbackends/xine.desktop" library name: "phonon_xine"

I use gentoo so had to reemerge qt-core and qt-qui with glib flag, after that again phonon and phonon-kde

This error is till there but at least my apps are working

dragon, digikam, amarok finally showing up
