Please install the phonon-dbg package and try to reproduce this crash. Also, maybe a switch to the Phonon-backend-xine could help.

Thank you Pierre. When you go to the system settings -> Multimedia -> Backend tab, you see the Phonon backend in use. To switch to the xine backend, you need to install the package phonon-backend-xine, then set the xine entry on top in that settings. It would be nice to see if you can reproduce this crash with that backend, too.

Hi,

I am under Gnome in french. In system settings -> Multimedia, I have 2 tabs: "Préférence de périphérique" and "Moteur". I guess that "Moteur" means "Backend".
In my tab "Moteur", I only have GStreamer and the comment is "Système de gestion GStreamer pour Phonom".
If I install phonon-backend-xine and I close and re-open system settings -> Multimedia, nothing has changed.

Fixed in 6.0.0 since digiKam use QtAV+ffmpeg to play and extract thumbnails from video files
