Version:            (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS:                OS X
Installed from:    Mac OS X (Fink) Packages

With a default installation through MacPorts, Okular does not let the user open a PDF file, since PDF is not in the list of supported files. Other types of files (PS, DVI, DJVU) are opened without problem.

Then this is most likely a packaging issue, so please report it to the MacPorts bug tracking system: http://www.macports.org
