Version: (using KDE 4.4.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Icons sometimes are displayed as some junk. Most often this happens in the taskbar panel (attached - red arrow shows what was supposed to be keyboard layout indicator, blue - kbluetooth icon), but sometimes I saw it in other places (e.g. Konqueror search box, also attached - where it was supposed to be google icon).

none of those icons are drawn by or otherwise managed by plasma. i can't say with certainty what the cause might be, but it's filed against the wrong product.
So, why not change it to the component that does the drawing? Not being a KDE developer, I don't know which part is responsible for drawing the icons. As I indicated, plasma (specifically, taskbar panel) is where I see this thrashing 100% of the time. Other places are corrupted sometimes, but not always. Or is it just an attitude like "don't bother us with your petty bugs, we're doing some greater stuff here"?
driver bug? perhaps 2 unrelated bugs? what graphics card driver do you use?
NVIDIA 8600, nouveau driver, no desktop effects. I don't see any other corruption on the screen - so I tend to think it's not driver's fault. Who is drawing the icons then - Qt?
I'm pretty sure this is a nouveau bug. I had the same bug when installing kubuntu 10.04 (which uses by default nouveau), installing the nvidia drivers fixed it. You should report this bug directly at nouveau.
Created attachment 53856 [details] screenshot showing an example of the bug I also have this bug. I tried all versions of xf86-video-nouveau in portage (0.0.16_pre20100615, 0.0.16_pre20100807, 0.0.16_pre20100819, 0.0.16_pre20101010). I tried the latest version both with and without "desktop effects".
