Version:           1.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0), Mandriva Linux release 2010.0 (Official) for i586)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.13-desktop-1mnb

In earlier editions of Control Center it has been possible to push a button to give the root password and to then alter the settings in different tabs that required it. For System Settings - Advanced - Samba I can no longer find such a button, the entire page is only "faded". Some changes I have made directly in smb.conf, but this can not be the intention or what?

There is a patch proposed for KDE 4.5 which will KAuth-ify this module and thus fix this.

It's happening to kde 4.6.3 too. The kcm_samba can ask the root password when the user don't have permission to modify smb.conf.

I am not sure if KCM_SAMBA still exists in KDE 5+ ...It's been a while since I last tried, doesn't seem to be there anymore?

I have "smb" and "smbstatus". Are those different from the old "samba" one?
