Description ismabox 2010-05-09 21:10:10 UTC
Version: 0.10.2 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-22-generic

When text has been highlighted in a pdf document with review tools, and after that you try to look for a word, if you have used the predefined yellow to highlight, it is not possible to see the words that you are looking for, because the find tool uses yellow as well.

A proposal to fix this would be to maybe flash a few times the text found on the page? This would also help when searching for small bits of text in a large page that are difficult to see. e.g. I frequently search for the character '[' in academic papers to find where citations are on a page and this can be very difficult to see.

@Paschalis Veskos That would be really wonderful.
But if it is too difficult, at least being able to change the default "find" color would very very useful.
Even if it required modifying okularpartrc by hand, it would be an advance.
@developers, okular is great, thanks !

I think it is a wise idea to change the search highlight color to green or something different from what the default highlight annotation color is. At the moment, as a workaround, I change the tool's annotation color to green.

Actually, using green as the highlight color still makes the yellow difficult to see. Probably something like purple would be better for contrast as the search highlight color.

Recent versions of Okular show the results of 'find' with a dark rectangle in addition to the yellow highlighting. I would therefore propose to close this bug.
Comment 7 Michael D 2018-08-22 11:27:00 UTC
I had not even noticed the rectangular border. It definitely helps, but I still think it would hugely aid in accessibility/usability if the search highlight color were NOT yellow.

In addition, highlight annotations seem to now have rounded ends (simulating the way highlighter ink spreads on paper?), while the find bar annotations are perfectly rectangular with a border.

If further differentiation is required, I noticed that on Vivaldi browser the found text briefly zooms in then out (like it’s jumping out to the user), so maybe an animation like that could be used.
