Description Rico Zienke 2010-05-08 11:57:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi,
as announced in bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193046.

I exported from Open office and graphic into SVG format. Afterwards I tried to edit it in kate. When I open it, kate seems to have issues with this file and hardly response any more. When I try now to select some letters or move the cursor to the right, kate is very slow and uses a lot of CPU resources.(I'm working with a netbook but for example notepad has no issues with such a file)

I think the reason is that there is no line break in this file.
But it is also not possible to add them in kate afterwards because kate does hartly react. I have to kill the process :-(

My solution was here to add the line breaks with another editor and go on afterwards with kate.

I reproduced it with kate 3.4.2 and git version taken today.
I attached a file.
Regards Rico

Fixed in KDE 4.8, too long lines will be auto-wrapped on load.
