In Kde3, it used to be possible to sort contacts into categories. This feature seems to be gone now.

Why was it removed?

Strangely enough, even the first Kde4 versions still had it...

Hej,

the KAddressBook shipped with KDE 4.4 is a complete rewrite of the old
one shipped with 4.3. Unfortunately the new one was missing the categories
field, however it has been added already and will be available in the version
that will be delivered with KDE 4.5 later this year.

Great news... but why is the same mistake repeated all over the place, especially a year after konsole, plasma, amarok, ... got lots of heat over exactly the same subject?

Well, let's hope the new Kde 4.5 version will at least be able to pick up the categories of existing users... or did the Kde 4.4 version permanently wipe them?
