Description Jeff Fitzmaurice 2010-05-07 06:53:09 UTC
Version: 1.13.2 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), 4.4.2-2.fc12 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64

In Kmail, using the Kontact interface, I followed Tools/Anti-Spam Wizard. From there I proceeded to set-up my Spam filter. After following the wizard, I restarted Kontact. Now, all mail is put in the trash folder. I distinctly instructed the wizard to place all Spam in the Spam/Certain Folder.

This is annoying as now I still have to manually sift through all mail. All mail from all accounts is placed into the Trash folder.

I'm sure there must be a configuration file somewhere that would allow me to make some manual changes, however, I have not been able to find anything that remotely resembles the configuration file needed.

I have also checked Red Hat/Bugzilla and found nothing comparable to what I have described.

Ok. I think have got this fixed. In Kontact, Setting/Configure Filters.

Then, view available filters on the left. Remove every filter. Apply and close. Then go back into Tools/Spam Wizard. Select one (I seclect Spambayes). Follow simple instructions. Set the Spam to be dumped into the Spam file. Done. Everything works. Trash is now trash, Spam gets placed in Spam and real mail gets sorted to the associated boxes.

Works great.

Don't understand this fixed status. I suddenly started losing mails. Found this bug description, fortunately.
Jeff describes a work around, not a fix. People who are using Kontact are missing mails if they don't find this.

I'm more of an end user. One thing I did look for is the config file for kmail. I couldn't find it. My theory is that I simply pushed too many filter buttons. Clearing the filters and then starting over worked for me. It's been two days and Kontact is still sorting the mail as instructed.

I had the same problem and pushed absolutely no filter buttons. There is a
problem with a clean install.
