Title says it all.  This Kubuntu 9.10 has had network manager problems before, probably disparate network managers working against each other.  Once the module blew up, I had to copy a backup over the system-generated /etc/resolv.conf because there was no DNS (which makes it hard to report things like bugs) ;-)
