Version: 4.3.5-18.9 (using KDE 4.3.5) OS: Linux Installed from: openSUSE RPMs Selecting "only show tasks from the current desktop" in Task Manager works as expected until the kwin's "desktop grid effect" is used. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. use multiple desktops, let's say 4 2. select "only show tasks from the current desktop" in Task Manager 3. use kwin's "desktop grid effect" Actual Results: Activating "desktop grid effect" shows a grid of 4 desktops. There, if we look just at the current desktop's taskbar we see only the windows in that desktop - all good so far. The problem is that the taskbars of the other 3 desktops show the same apps that live in the current desktop. Expected Results: Every taskbar showed in "desktop grid effect" should only contain the applications associated with that desktop: taskbar 1 - desktop 1 taskbar 2 - desktop 2 ... taskbar n - desktop n The above mentioned *** design flaw *** probably affects the Cube also. This KDE design flaw was first reported in February of 2008 by Richard Johnson. At that time the resolution was as "WONTFIX". This is the original report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158120 The following are duplicates of the original report as of April of 2010: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158122 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164559 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178262 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=188503 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189145 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=191138 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195033 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203801 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209494 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216120 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=235075
and it's still a WONTIFIX and btw it is more or less fixed in desktop grid as panels are not shown by default. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 158120 ***
To make it more clear: all the issues mentioned in bug 158120 are still valid, including all the mentioned points why it cannot be fixed. Opening bug reports again and again for a unfixable issue, won't magically solve the issue, but only annoy the developers and take away the time from fixing real issues. Sorry but everything which could be said to that issue is said in bug 158120 and I don't want to discuss issues again which have been discussed in length. There is also a very long discussion on the kwin and plasma mailinglist to this issue.
