Description Michael 2010-04-24 10:35:23 UTC
Version:           4.4.2 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS:                OS X
Installed from: Mac OS X (Fink) Packages

cpu goes from .4 up to 80 when playing any kind of audio

using amarok 2.3.0

can provide more if needed like recompile with debug stuff(might have to tell me how)
Comment 1 Michael 2010-04-24 10:36:00 UTC

Right, now it would be interesting to know which backend of Phonon you actually use and what audio codecs you have installed. Also, are you sure the CPU usage is due to Phonon and not Amarok? Then please provide the necessary output for that.
Comment 3 Michael 2010-04-25 10:51:31 UTC
audio codecs = perian, from what i can see im using the backend provided with QT4.6.2 which ia as far as i know the phonon-quicktime backend. I've looked at activity manager and it shows amarok at %80 when playing and it doesn't matter what type file i play. Please let me know how to give you the info you need

There is no such thing as a quicktime-backend, at least not to my knowledge. The existing backends are gstreamer or xine, and a new VLC backend is currently developped.
Also, since you see Amarok at 80%, I would rather say you talk about an Amarok problem. I don't see how you come to the conclusion this might be Phonon related...
Please start Amarok in a terminal with 'amarok --debug' (without the ') and give us the output
Comment 5 Michael 2010-04-26 01:28:47 UTC
I came to the conclusion that it could more likely be phonon due to older bugs that have been found that I looked at.

heres the debug:
playing a track

after i switched to a new track

Please do not send outputs to pastebins that time out, but attach them to the bug report or paste the relevant parts inline.
