Many (if not all) code generation options should be stored "per model/project".  Each model/project may need different settings (like language, code generation directory, etc).  Suggest storing these setting either as an umbrello extension to the .xmi file, or in a local (in the same directory as the .xmi file) .umbrello_settings file.
