Description Antonio Rojas 2010-04-13 16:53:51 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Archlinux Packages

GHNS doesn't recognize installed plasmoids. If you install some plasmoid and restart KDE, the list of installed plasmoids is empty. It doesn't seem to happen in other GHNS3 instances (for Amarok scripts at least it works fine)
Comment 1 Todd 2011-01-18 22:34:22 UTC
Still a problem in 4.6 RC 1.
Comment 2 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2011-02-25 13:03:54 UTC
Confirmed. This is a problem only with plasmoids GHNS dialog (wallpapers dialog works correctly for example). In the "Get New Widget" dialog, installed applets are not marked as "installed" after plasma-desktop is restarted while still being there.
Comment 3 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2011-02-25 14:29:57 UTC
Asked to the KNewStuff developer and he said Plasma is not using standard KNewStuff hence the bug. There is no registry file for plasmoids and that's probably why the installed ones are not kept in config and thus not in the dialog.

Reassigning to plasma
Comment 4 Todd 2011-07-31 07:42:56 UTC
This was fixed for a while but has re-appeared in 4.7.
Comment 5 Jeremy Whiting 2011-10-22 10:29:32 UTC
It seems to be working here. Closing, reopen if you hit this again.
Comment 6 Antonio Rojas 2011-10-22 11:08:09 UTC
It is not working in 4.7.3. Did you restart plasma after installing the plasmoid?
Comment 7 Jeremy Whiting 2011-10-22 15:23:16 UTC
Ah, my bad, indeed, after restarting plasma it is forgotten somehow. I'll see if I can find out why.
Comment 8 Donatas Glodenis 2012-06-05 18:52:32 UTC
It is still true on KDE 4.8.3, Kubuntu Precise packages.
Comment 9 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2012-06-05 19:49:59 UTC
Still valid on 4.8.80 (4.9 beta 1)
Comment 10 Nate Graham 2018-06-08 19:34:44 UTC
Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
