After changing the database settings the user should be asked if a database migration should start or not. If this option is selected, the left side of the database migration dialog should automatically contain the old database settings and the right side the now ones.

I was really confused that there was no automatic migration happened after changing the settings and the entry in the tools menu is really hard to find if you don't know what to search for.
