Description Zen 2010-04-03 10:15:49 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: openSUSE RPMs

Placing a link to a file somewhere, then editing it e.g. with Kate creates the backup file ...~ in the folder where the link is located, it should be placed alongside the link's target as if the file had been opened directly.

Not sure if this is a bug or intended...
Comment 2 Zen 2010-04-14 22:45:52 UTC
I was in doubt too but from a user perspective the current behavior doesn't make much sense. If I link to a text file on my desktop I don't expect a backup file to pop up next to it. Likewise having multiple different backup files in different locations for one single target file is counterintuitive.
