Description Silver Salonen 2010-03-26 08:28:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
Installed from: openSUSE RPMs

When updating file associations from Konqueror, the process takes at least 5 seconds, which is quite weird when only one type of file has changed. I guess the update process just walks through all the types and re-applies them, even these that have not changed.

Could it be enhanced to update only these file types that were changed by user?

I'd just like to add that this behavior is still the same in 4.10.0, even on very fast systems on SSDs.

Since this process is supposedly safe to interrupt, would it be possible to just silently background the setting update? This would avoid having the user wait for the update for their application to load. Personally, I find the progress box and message a nuisance. As long as it will actually remember the association, I don't need any visual feedback (unless there's a failure with the update, which I assume could be sent as a tray notification.)
